The Wheaton/Glen Ellyn area 2016 CROP Hunger Walk steps off at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 1
at St. Matthew United Church of Christ
1420 S. Gables Blvd., Wheaton. Registration is at 1 p.m.
The family-friendly walk of roughly three miles which begins and ends at the church will take place partially on the Prairie Path and circle back along Wiesbrook Road. Participants are asked to bring a non-perishable food item. There will be games and face painting for the children. Families are also invited to pack food items for local food pantries after the walk is completed.
The walk raises money for the Peoples Resource Center, the DuPage Senior Citizens Council, the Glen Ellyn Food Pantry and the Glen Ellyn Walk-In ministry, as well as Church World Service. Nationally, the CROP Hunger Walk raised over $11 million in 2015, with $25,000 coming from local churches in the Wheaton/Glen Ellyn walk.
