Lent begins in the ache, the questions, the tension between love and loss. It does not rush toward resolution, but invites us to slow down, to turn with honesty, and to journey with Jesus through wildness, confrontation, and cross. Along the way, we listen to voices from the margins, learn from stories of resistance and renewal, and remember that God meets us not in strength, but in surrender.
This is the work of imagination: to envision a world remade by mercy, to trust that healing is possible even in the shadow of empire, and to practice love that outlasts despair. Lent calls us into this holy labor—not as a solitary act, but as a communal path toward transformation.
Whether it’s a discussion group (or two!), a community dinner, or a church service, St. Matthew has opportunities for everyone during this Lenten season.
We hope you will join us.

Wednesday, March 11th, 5:30pm-7pm. We’re starting a once-a-month neighborhood gathering - just a shared meal, good conversation, and a chance to get to know the people who live nearby. It won't always be on Wednesdays, so keep watching our communications.
We provide a main, and you can bring a snack or side, or bring nothing at all.
WE are hoping to start a movement! Where we create a space to be off social media and enjoy small talk with no pressure to be anything but yourself. And if small talk isn't your thing, there will be a table with a puzzle or games.
No agenda. No speeches. No pressure. No heavy topics.
Come as you are. Bring a friend or just bring yourself.
Everyone is welcome - kids, singles, longtime residents or newcomers. A simple community space to eat, talk, and connect.

Saturday, March 21st, 10am
Bring your basket for St. Matthew’s Annual Easter Egg Hunt!
Visit with the Easter Bunny and enjoy some snacks and activities.
Invite your family and friends to this community event! All are welcome.

During Lent, St. Matthew has two discussion groups! Both groups will use the book “The Tears of Things” by Richard Rohr.
Sundays after church, 10:45-noon. Led by the Mothersheds (our former pastor, now retired, Rev. Allen, and his even more amazing wife & yoga instructor, Marla). Anyone can attend. Feel free to bring a friend who may need to connect during these challenging times. February 22nd - March 29th. No meeting on March 15th.
Tuesdays, from 12-1pm. Grief Group Book Club will be led by Pastor Erin and will focus on those of us who are leaning into the more difficult emotions surrounding loss (recent and not so recent), difficult diagnosis, caring for declining loved ones, and those really struggling to find joy in these difficult times. February 24th - March 24th.

Sunday, April 5th, 9:30am
